This position may travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties, and individuals may be required to drive their own personal vehicle or City vehicle. Successful candidate must be in possession of a Texas driver’s license as authorized by the Texas Transportation Code. A driving record verification will be conducted. Applicants for positions for which City driving is an essential function must meet the standards of the program: age 18 or older, current applicable driver’s license, proof of insurability, and no more than six (6) points assessed on Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) based on Department of Public Safety (DPS) Driver Record Report. This position falls under the COA safe driver program requirements.
The top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal history background check.

Strength Abilities:
This position requires bending, lifting, walking, carrying, and using a force equal to lifting eighty (80) pounds. Material Handling requires 80 lbs. maximum weight for lifting, carrying, pulling and/or pushing at constant levels throughout the day.

Exempt Employees: Exempt employees are salaried employees and, except as provided, are not eligible for overtime compensation.

Preferred Qualifications

- Six (6) or more years experience working with electric utility underground and overhead construction as a DEIII (Journeyman)

- Experience interpreting AE GIS data using mobile mapping software or in print

- Must possess a working knowledge of underground and overhead electric construction prints

- Field experience assessing and validating electrical field equipment connectivity and phasing for both underground and overhead AE Distribution

- Ability to troubleshoot, analyze, and correct GIS Electric Data Model problems

- Experience analyzing existing electric field data drawings against current computer mapping data

- Must be able to respond to after hour call back during system disturbances

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

  1. Inspect electrical conduit and 90 Meter bases connections. Coordinate and schedule of electric construction projects and advance locating activities with commercial, private, and public construction and excavation entities. Expedite, review, and inspect distribution construction projects to ensure ready to work for Austin Energy
  2. Performs site and print checks of construction projects to ensure underground utilities are located and site is workable, to include requesting permits from Public Works to work in city right of way. Performs inspections of civil construction facilities
  3. Assists the Scheduler Analyst by creating/updating work orders, generate and activate material orders
  4. Processes and expedites purchases of non-stock goods and services, maintain files and collect data for reports
  5. Purchases construction materials as needed for the AE or Contract construction crews
  6. Manages underground prints for utilization and research by construction contractors to improve construction coordination.
  7. Maintains databases for various tracking of documentation for coordination of electrical construction projects.
  8. Coordinates planning and scheduling of electrical construction projects. Assists in the assessment of material/products to ensure best fit distribution construction needs.
  9. Advises customers and contractors of project timeline and tasks related to that timeline.
