This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and individual will be required to drive a City vehicle. Position will also be required to drive on the AOA. Successful candidate must be in possession of a Texas driver’s license as authorized by the Texas Transportation Code. A driving record verification will be conducted. This position is categorized as an Essential Personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

Top candidate will be subject to a minimum 10 year criminal background check and security threat assessment.

This position will require a hands on SCADA skills assessment.

Physical Requirements:
Continuous carrying or lifting 1-50lb tool bags, tools, equipment to job site. Frequent carrying/lifting from 51-70lbs including equipment and parts. Occasional carrying/lifting heavy parts, motors, reducers, etc. from 70-100 lbs. including lifting luggage for TSA/assistance. Continuous pulling or pushing from 1-50 lbs. loading, moving, unloading, parts, etc. Frequent pulling or pushing 51-70lbs. equipment and parts. Occasional pulling or pushing items from 71-100 lbs. with assistance. Continuous manual/physical dexterity while working in extreme weather conditions. Continuous finger dexterity needed to hold tools and equipment components. Continuous climbing and crawling on hands and knees to access equipment. Frequent and prolong standing while working on equipment. Frequent reading overhead, over shoulders, and turning body side to side (manual dexterity). Continuous squatting and kneeling. Frequent bending and stooping. Able to communicate in high noise area. Must have good color vision in order to view documents, blue prints, etc. Utilize eyes for long periods of time while working on detail and reading plans, materials instructions, schematics, etc. Must possess the physical and mental capacity to safely operate a motor vehicle during day or night time.

Pay Range

$24.36 – $31.56


Wed – Sat 12:00am to 10:30pm
Hours and/or days may vary depending on departmental needs to include shift incentive.

Preferred Qualifications

•Knowledge of Siemens, GE Fanuc, or Allen Bradley integrated architecture

•2 years experience with PLC ladder logic programming.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

1. Supports 24/7 real-time control system integrity and ensure the highest operational reliability and system availability. This requires after hours on-call support to meet the response requirements for restoring the mission critical system.
2. Installs, enhances, troubleshoots, calibrates and repairs systems and/or equipment that is part of the Austin Airport’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and Baggage Handling Systems (BHS).
3. Conducts field inspections of baggage handling system
4. Learns application programming activities, including coding, testing, debugging, documentation and system modifications
5. Configures and programs process control applications (Human Machine Interfaces), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) and Remote Terminal Unit (RTU) functions
6. Performs loop checks, point-to-point checks, control loop analysis and hardware/software diagnostics of SCADA and ESS systems and equipment.
7. Maintains stock and parts inventories and documentation for all systems

Ability to work with Unix (TRU64 Unix preferred). 
Knowledge of PLC ladder login programming.
Knowledge of Siemens, GE Fanuc, or Allen Bradley integrated architecture. 
Ability to understand database design and application development. 
Ability to perform systems testing of specification requirements. 
Ability to understand and use standard application development design, report and project management tools. 
Ability to effectively participate in multiple projects or project capacities. 
Ability to perform objective analyses and re-engineering of business processes to maximize quality service and cost-effectiveness.
