The minimum qualifications requires current enrollment from an accredited University or College with at least 30 credit hours with classification as a Sophomore, Junior or Senior. Student is required to have an overall 2.5 or higher GPA on 4.0 scale.

Notes to Applicants

This internship will provide support to the Departments Field Operation storm drain pipe construction crews and supervisors. Intern will assist with data entry, records management, work order data entry, equipment and materials inventory, drafting procedures, research information as requested and/or needed and compile data and write informational reports.

DRIVING REQUIREMENTS:
A valid Texas Driver’s License is required if driving on City business. If selected as the top candidate, your driving record(s) will be evaluated. Job offer is contingent on meeting the City’s Driver Eligibility Standards which includes not exceeding the applicable Driver Record Evaluation Points (DRE) or City Driver Points (CDP).

CRIMINAL BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION:
Job Offer is contingent on passing a Criminal Background Investigation.

EDUCATION:
Education verification will be conducted on the top candidate.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Must be able to work in various types of weather conditions and terrains (e.g. conducting field work/site visits/surveys).

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to carry/lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs. Ability to climb/sit/stand/bend/stoop/walk/squat/kneel/reach above shoulder level to conduct field work/site visits/surveys.

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience in construction operations.

2. Familiar with work zone safety and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

3. Ability to work indoors in an office trailer, as well as outdoors for long periods of time.

5. Reliable transportation to arrive at various work locations.

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.

Monitor department/program quality indicators.
Coordinate with other agencies/personnel for certain aspects of mutual research or investigation.
Counsel/facilitate interventions for the prevention of errors involving department/program plans.
Prepare training plans and documents, train staff regarding program implementation as directed.
Follow up on client or customer complaints (e.g. ‘hot line’ calls or CAF’s).
Conduct fact finding and/or informational survey by interview or other means.
Conduct investigations for department/program plan.
Conduct checks of department/program sites (i.e. clinics, offices) to assure compliance with policies and procedures.
Research information as requested and/or needed.
Compile data and write informational reports.
Perform tasks related to department/program surveying and reporting
