Background:

The City’s Economic Development Department’s Souly Austin Program aims to support the creation and retention of stable, organized commercial business districts throughout the City of Austin. Vibrant commercial business districts offer a range of businesses and services that reflect a unique culture and history, provide amenities to the community, and foster different characteristics and personalities that further contribute to the distinctive identity that makes Austin a destination and attractive community.

Souly Austin currently has assisted six business districts with forming merchants associations, identifying their needs and opportunities and creating or enhancing a district identity. Business districts currently served by the City of Austin and districts to be engaged in the future each have a unique story to tell. The story consists of district assets, history, iconic businesses or public art, events and great food and music. As the businesses in each area come together to form a merchants association discussions around district branding, marketing and promotions to bring locals, tourists and residents in adjacent neighborhoods start to surface. Packaging of these unique places has been an identified need of the business community and districts serviced to date.
We foster a creative environment, but we are fast paced and need an applicant that can deliver under demanding deadlines. The candidate will have a do-what-it-takes attitude and be a self-starter.

The Souly Austin program is seeking a motivated individual to develop detailed and professional marketing, visual and social media campaigns & posts, to promote Souly Austin business districts and help draw patrons and attention to the areas.

Candidate should demonstrate ability to identify a target market and “speak” to that consumer through social media, plus has energy, with a desire to come up with fresh ideas on how to grow our online presence.
