Minimum Qualifications

Plumber I:

    Minimum Qualifications:

      Graduation an accredited high school or equivalent, plus three (3) years of experience in the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems including gas, water, and steam systems.

      Experience may substitute for Education up to the maximum of four (4) years.
    Licenses and Certifications Required:

      Must obtain the State of Texas Journeyman’s Plumbing License within six (6) months of hire.

Plumber II:

    Minimum Qualifications:

      Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent, plus four (4) years of experience in the installation and repair of plumbing fixtures and systems including gas, water, and steam systems.

      Experience may substitute for Education up to four (4) years.
    Licenses and Certifications Required:

    • State of Texas Master’s Plumbing License.
    • Texas Class C Operator’s License or ability to obtain one within 90 calendar days of hire.
    Physical Requirements:

      Moderate. Tasks involve bending, lifting, walking, carrying or using a force equal to lifting up to fifty (50) pounds.

This position may require a skills assessment. This assessment will be conducted as part of the interview process. The skills assessment is a Plumbing Quality test (Kenexa Prove-It) administer by HRD at the DeWitty training center.

A driving record verification will be conducted. Applicants for positions for which City driving is an essential function must meet the standards of the program: age 18 or older, current applicable driver’s license, proof of insurability, and no more than six (6) points assessed on Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) based on Department of Public Safety (DPS) Driver Record Report. This position falls under the COA safe driver program requirements.

Overtime may be required with or without notice

Pay Range

$17.93 – $22.32: Plumber I
$19.36 – $24.59: Plumber II

Hours

Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Evening, weekend and holiday work may be required.

Rotational on-call as required by the position.
