Driving on City business: This position must travel between various locations as part of the regular job duties and individual may be required to drive own personal vehicle or City vehicle. Successful candidate must be in possession of a Texas driver’s license as authorized by the Texas Transportation Code. A driving record verification will be conducted. Applicants for positions for which City driving is an essential function must meet the standards of the program: age 18 or older, current applicable driver’s license, proof of insurability, and no more than six (6) points assessed on Driver Record Evaluation (DRE) based on Department of Public Safety (DPS) Driver Record Report. DRIVING STATEMENT

WORK HOURS
Shift may change according to departmental needs. Work hours may include after hours, holidays, and weekend work

SHIFT INCENTIVE
Shift work (to include shift differential incentive with evening/night shifts). Days and hours may vary to include weekends and holidays.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL
This position is categorized as an Essential Personnel. Essential personnel are required to come to work during emergencies or bad weather at the airport if they are scheduled to work and in some cases when they are not scheduled.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Continuous carrying or lifting 1 -50 lbs. tool bags, tools, equipment to job site
Frequent carrying / lifting from 51-70 lbs. including equipment & parts
Occasional carrying / lifting heavy parts, motors, reducers , etc. from 70 – 100 lbs .including lifting luggage for TSA / assistance.
Continuous pulling or pushing from 1 -50 lbs. Loading, moving, unloading, parts, etc.
Frequent pulling or pushing 51-70 lbs. equipment & parts
Occasional pulling or pushing items from 71 – 100 lbs. with assistance
Continuous manual / physical dexterity while working in extreme weather conditions
Continuous finger dexterity needed to hold tools & equipment components.
Continuous climbing & crawling on hands and knees to access equipment
Frequent and prolong standing while working on equipment
Frequent reading overhead, over shoulders, and turning body side to side (manual dexterity)
Continuous squatting and kneeling
Frequent bending and stooping
Able to communicate in a high noise area
Must have good color vision in order to view documents, blue prints, etc.
Utilize eyes for long periods of time while working on detail and or reading plans, materials instructions, schematics, etc.
Must possess the physical and mental capacity to safely operate a motor vehicle during day or night time

Equipment Technician I
1 Years of experience in the installation, maintenance and/or repair of electromechanical conveying equipment or passenger boarding bridges.
*Valid Texas Class C Driver License

Duties, Functions and Responsibilities

Essential duties and functions, pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act, may include the following. Other related duties may be assigned.
1. Conducts routine inspections of equipment.
2. Performs preventative maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment.
3. Performs electromechanical repairs to complex equipment.
4. Modifies or refurbishes equipment.
5. Estimates time, labor and materials for budget or billing purposes.
6. Performs welding, braising or fabrication of some parts.
7. Maintains technical data on equipment to be service.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must possess required knowledge, skills, abilities and experience and be able to explain and demonstrate, with or without reasonable accommodations, that the essential functions of the job can be performed.
Knowledge of symbols used in engineering drawing, circuit diagrams or schematics.
Knowledge of basic operations of small electric motors and pneumatic or hydraulic pumps.
Knowledge of safety in repair of energized electronic equipment.
Knowledge of welding, braising, and bonding materials.
Knowledge of testing of electronic components.
Knowledge of basic inventory and billing record keeping.
Skill in oral and written communication.
Skill in handling multiple tasks and prioritizing.
Skill in planning and organizing.
Ability to test and calibrate equipment or controls to close tolerance.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, circuit diagrams or schematics.
Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with other city employees and the public.
