Archivist I:

    Minimum Qualifications:

      Master’s degree in Library or Information Science, or related to the assigned program from an ALA accredited university, with specialization in archival enterprise and/or administration; or must be received within six (6) months of employment.

      Master’s degree in History/Public History with coursework in archival administration, or a Master’s Degree in a related field, may substitute for the required Master’s degree in Library or Information Science.
    Licenses and Certifications Required:

      May require a valid operator’s license and the use of a personal vehicle.

Archivist II:

    Minimum Qualifications:

      Master’s degree in Library or Information Science, or related to the assigned program from an ALA accredited university, with specialization in archival enterprise and/or administration, plus two (2) years professional experience working in an archives, library, museum, or other cultural heritage institution.

      Master’s degree in History/Public History with coursework in archival administration, or a Master’s Degree in a related field, may substitute for the required Master’s degree in Library or Information Science.
    Licenses and Certifications Required:

      May require a valid operator’s license and the use of a personal vehicle.

This position will be filled at the level of an Archivist I or Archivist II depending on experience.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively to develop and implement workflows to acquire, describe, process, preserve and provide access to born-digital materials in accordance with professional standards.
  • Work collaboratively to arrange, describe and provide access to born-digital collections.
  • Create disk images of born-digital materials received on physical media.
  • Research systems and tools for accessioning, archiving, and preserving digital resources.
  • Recommend strategies and actions necessary to plan, develop and implement an electronic records program.

Pay Range

Archivist I: 19.36-32.20
Archivist II: 21.31-35.42

Hours

Monday-Friday 9-6 and some weekends

  • Knowledge of digital forensic tools for harvesting, managing and preserving born-digital materials, such as BitCurator, BagIt, DataAccessioner, etc.
  • Relevant coursework or certification in digital archives
  • Familiarity with metadata standards such as DACS, EAD, Dublin Core, MODS, PREMIS.
  • Demonstrated experience (paid or unpaid work or internship) processing born-digital collections and capturing disk images from legacy media such as hard drives and floppy disks.
  • Demonstrated understanding of basic archival principles and practices.
